OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.  It’s the program and process by which adults are introduced to the Catholic faith and invited to profess it through participation in the Sacraments such as Baptism, First Eucharist, Confession, and Confirmation.

OCIA and Confirmation combined classes are held annually for interested individuals, and are always highly rated by participants. It’s a powerful way to deepen your faith in Christ and His Church, as well as your intellectual understanding of the Catholic faith.

OCIA during the 2025-2026 academic year begins on Tuesday, Oct. 14th at 7pm, at the Newman Center. Classes are held each Tuesday of the school year (with the exception of finals weeks and winter/spring breaks) through late May, from 7pm-9pm in the St. Thomas Aquinas Classroom (located on the second floor of the Newman Center).

If you’d like more information on OCIA or would like to register, please email our OCIA leader at ocia@uwnewman.org.
