Join us for kayaking and canoeing on Union Bay! We’ll start with Mass and then rent kayaks or canoes from the University of Washington Waterfront Activities Center (WAC), and paddle around the beautiful arboretum. (We've unfortunately had to change our date from Aug 3 to Aug 10 since the WAG where we rent Kayaks is closed on the 3rd for Seafair)

Timeline:

8:30am Mass at Blessed Sacrament (optional): 5050 8th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105

10:00am Meet at UW WAC: 3710 Montlake Blvd NE, Seattle, WA 98195

10:30am Begin paddling 

12:30pm End 

Bring water. Sunscreen and snacks are recommended. (Note, the WAC does not have food available).

Meeting for 8:30am Mass at Blessed Sacrament is optional. After Mass, we’ll head over and meet at the WAC.

We will meet at the WAC at 10:00am and rent 1 and 2-person kayaks or canoes. We should be back on shore around 12:30pm. Cost: $21/hr for single kayaks, $25/hr for double kayaks, $18/hr for canoes. You can find a partner to rent with at the event. 

PFDs (life jackets) and paddles are supplied with every rental, but you can bring your own if you like. (Must be Type I, II, or III PFD.) PFDs must be worn and buckled at all times while in the boats. Expect you and your personal items to get wet and plan accordingly. The WAC has a limited number of dry bags available for rent ($2.50), as well as a limited number of day-use lockers available for rent ($2.50) for those not wanting to take valuables on the boat.
