Welcome to our young adult's overnight backpacking trip; the Frassati Outdoor Ministry Team is excited about this unique opportunity for spiritual growth and fellowship in the great outdoors! Whether you are a seasoned overnight backpacker or brand new, this is a great opportunity to experience the beauty of God’s creation, all while deepening your faith and connecting with peers. Each day will have opportunities for communal prayer, Mass and outdoor Adoration, and bible study. You are invited to embrace the simplicity of the journey and leave behind anything that will distract you, like music or games on your cell.
Our destinations will be the beautiful Snow Lake and Gem Lake (LINK) with Upper and Lower Wildcat Lakes as extensions.
SUNDAY, AUG 6
We will take a poll when it would be a good time for us to meet as a group that do to go over specifics of the trip. We will address any missing gear people have, as well as tents and food/kitchen arrangements for the group.
FRIDAY, AUG 11
One group will depart early in the morning to secure camping spots for the group (camping is permitted only at designated spots and are limited). If our combined group exceeds the maximum size of 12, this early group will likely camp separately at Gem Lake (5 miles with 2,200 ft elevation gain), while securing spots at the lower Snow Lake for the second group.
The second group will depart from Seattle Friday evening at 5:00pm; the trailhead is only an hour and half (with traffic) from Seattle and camp at Snow Lake, which is only a 3-mile hike away and 1,200 feet elevation gain. The group should arrive around 8pm with an hour before 9pm twilight, so eating dinner on the car ride might be a good idea.
Group evening prayer, scripture reflections.
SATURDAY, AUG 12
Breakfast followed by Dominican Morning Prayer
Day trip to Gem and Lower and Upper Wildcat Lakes, which is an additional 4 miles and 1,400 feel elevation gain from Snow Lake. However, if the group is capable and willing, we can also break camp and move it to one of the lakes which should be less crowded. (This is to be discussed with the group in our Aug 6th meeting).
Evening Mass & Adoration.
SUNDAY, AUG 13
Dominican Morning Prayer and Sunday Mass.
Departure by noon.
Back to Seattle by evening.
