Fr. Jordan’s Address

Dear Newman Community,

After 12 years as Director, I will be leaving the Newman Center. This will be effective on July 1. It is with both excitement and sadness that I share this news with all of you. I know in my heart that I am making the right decision – it is time to do this.

My Provincial has given me permission to take a one year sabbatical after twenty-eight years of ministry. I am very much looking forward to this time to visit family and friends, and in January of 2022, I will be travelling to Rome for one semester at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas.

I will be returning to Seattle to begin my new assignment within our province as Director of the Dominican Mission Foundation in July 2022. I get to stay in the Northwest!

Fr. Marcin will become the new Director. He is the right person for this position. His love for campus ministry and the students who come to the Center is evident to everyone. Fr. Marcin will be a great Director. In July you will also have a new Assistant Director. Br. Chrysotom Mijinke, OP, will be ordained to the priesthood in June and joining the staff in July. He is very much looking forward to serving with and among you.

I want to thank the staff for the tremendous support that they have shown me over these last 12 years. They have made the day-to-day operation of the Center all the more successful. It has been a blessing to work with all of them – I could not have done my ministry here without them. My gratitude also extends to the Peer Ministers who serve, and have served, during my time at Newman – what an incredible group of young people! You are all awesome.

To everyone, I say “Thank you!” Your support and prayers have allowed us to make the Newman Center succeed in its ministry to the students at the University of Washington.

I thank God for bringing me here to the Newman Center and meeting so many wonderful people. I am a better priest because of all of you.

You will be in my prayers, and I ask that you keep me in yours.

Sincerely in Christ, who is our Prince of Peace,

Fr. Jordan Bradshaw, OP
