Academic Scholarships

Thank you for your interest in applying for academic scholarships through the Newman Center! 

Each year, we offer two scholarships, the Fr. William Dean Dooley, O.P. and the Fr. Tom Kraft, O.P. scholarships.  These funds have been established to provide grants to students attending the University of Washington and participating in the Newman Center community.  Scholarship awards of $500 will be given. Students may apply in succeeding years.

Selection Criteria

  1. Evidence of scholarly endeavor
  2. Satisfactory progess toward a degree
  3. Participation in activities at the Newman Center, in the university, and community
  4. Financial need

Application Procedure

  1. Please apply online, download and mail in the application, or contact the Newman Center to request an application form.
  2. Return the application and all requested documents by May 28, 2013

Letters of recommendation: Request two (1 academic reference and 1 personal reference) letters of recommendation from two people (not relatives, other students, or Newman Center staff, and only two please). The letters may be submitted with your application or in a signed envelope and mailed directly to the Newman Center Scholarship Committee

Photo copy of FAFSA: If available, please send a photocopy of your most recent Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report

Copy of transcript: Request that a copy of your UW academic (unofficial) transcript through the most recent term be sent to the address below.

A one page essay describing what your faith means to you and how it impacts your life as a student
