On June 3rd, our Newman Center staff and community, along with Bishop Mueggenborg, broke ground on our new expansion project! We are so excited for this new phase in the Newman Center's 100+ year ministry, and are so grateful for all of the support, prayers, and generous donations we've received.
We embarked on this journey of almost doubling the square footage of the Newman Center, with the goal of adding more worship space, more areas for small groups to meet, and improving the functionality of the existing building. We believe that making these changes will help us in our mission of preparing future leaders of the Church. We are blessed to have so many in support of this changes- with your generosity we have reached $4.4 million of the $5.25 million needed!
Though we are so excited about this process, we are aware that with the construction process comes some challenges for our ministry- primarily, the loss of use of our building and chapel. We have found an alternate location for Sunday and Wednesday Masses (see schedule here), and will continue to utilize UW for Masses until we get our chapel back! Our staff has relocated to St. Benedict Church in Wallingford, but are still reachable via phone and email. To set up an appointment with one of us, please use the info found here. As for our regular ministry events (like Freshman group, Veritas, Frassati, etc.), we are working on finding meeting spaces either on campus or at local parishes- stay tuned and be sure to like our Facebook page here to get notified when we create event pages!
We aim to keep our ministry as dynamic as ever, and we hope to be as transparent and communicative as possible! We will be regularly updating our Facebook page and website with ministry event locations and other pertinent information. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and your support. If you have any questions or suggestions for how to make this process smoother, be sure to let us know!
