This past Friday, Newman hosted its quarterly Cafe Newman talent show where the best and/or bravest talented performers show what they can do while raising money for charity. This quarter we were able to raise $331.50 for the American Cancer Society so thank you to those who came out and supported the show. Our next Cafe Newman will be happening Autumn Quarter 2014 so everyone has enough time to develop a talent to share.
Towards the end of the year, school gets more difficult due to senioritis and the approaching summer. It is only the exciting announcements, friendships, and events that keep us going. If you have not already heard, the Peer Ministers for 2014-2015 have been announced! Next year there will be six people living upstairs. The study room will be converted to a bedroom to accommodate the additional PM. Next year's group of Peer Ministers includes Kenny Nguyen, Daniel Corona, Mariam Matthew, Monica Kim, Andra Amador, and Han Hoang. Congratulations!
Summer is approaching and Spring has already arrived. Less rain and more sun means it's time to barbecue! If you are a graduating high school senior or know someone who is graduating this year, the Newman Center is hosting our first annual Graduating High School Senior Barbecue. This is an opportunity for parents and students to learn more about the ways college students are able to maintain and further develop their faith in college. Current UW students will be giving their testimonies about how our Newman Center has helped them on their faith journey and how other students can do it too. Please spread the word as the barbecue is happening this Friday May 16th at 5:30 PM. Please check our Facebook event page for more information.
Saturday Night Alive is also happening this Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church so please come out and join us for prayer and social time to help grow towards a closer Catholic Seattle community.
