Synod on the Family Survey: Tell Us What You Think

Dear Newmanites,
You may be aware that Pope Francis has called for an Extraordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, to take place in October, 2014, on the theme, “The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization.” As is customary, several weeks ago a questionnaire was sent to the bishops of the world seeking their input. The Holy See has asked them to share information about this topic as widely as possible and to provide a way for those Catholics who wish to contribute to the consultation to do so.

Your voice is needed! As the Newman Center staff, we would love to learn more about what our community struggles with when it comes to this important area of our faith. We also want to encourage you to reflect deeper on the Church teaching on family life and to share your thoughts and suggestions with our bishops. All responses received at Newman will be mailed to Archbishop Sartain, and his office will send them to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. The USCCB will collect the responses from all dioceses in the United States and pass them on to the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops in Rome.

We created our very local online version of the survey available here. Your response will be anonymous. Please take your time, read the instructions and respond to all or only some of the questions by December 14, 2013.
Remember, your prayerful response will help us and our fellow pastors understand better the challenges the People of God face in the contemporary society.

May God bless you and your loved ones,
Fr. Lukasz Misko, OP
